In tune with the weather, Google has finally warmed up to Canada and is now shipping its Nexus One smartphone to Canada. Previously, the Nexus One was only available to purchasers with a US shipping address and worked on a select set of 3G frequencies. Even if Canadians were able to purchase the phone from the US, Rogers, Bell and Telus subscribers could only use the device over 2G or EDGE networks resulting in slower data transfer rates. Google’s new version of the Nexus One, released March 17, is now capable of running on both Rogers and the new joint 3G+ network launched by Telus and Bell. The device will ship unlocked and is available from Google for $529.
